We tend to be very picky about the Coprion bells. I didn't remove the lacquer because like other Conn enthusiast and myself. If you look at the pictures, overall the bell still looks very nice, and outside in the sun, this trumpet really pops! For additional $20 I can remove the lacquer from the bell. The finnish is about 85% intact, some wear here and there, also some evidence that a small part of the rim was bent at some point and then professionally repaired. The bell has a couple of small dings towards the back of the bell(look at the pictures) and a small ding where the Conn engraving is. more The bell still has the original lacquer. Some things to mention are the fact that the body is raw brass and polished. All slides and caps are free and in working order. There is a small spot of plating wear at the bottom of the second valve, but nothing major that would affect playability. This trumpet plays and sounds great! You can't beat the rich sound of Coprion belled horns. The bell is not made of rose brass, but comprised of 100% copper. This trumpet features Conn's"crysteel" valves, and the famous"Coprion" bell. This model 18B is known as the"late model" 18B Trumpet, it only existed for 1 year before it changed to the model 17B from 1960 and on, making this horn uncommon.
